1What cookies are, briefly
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. The next time you load a page, the browser sends it back, so the site can recognise that it is still you. That is how a basket survives a page change and how a login stays logged in.
Related technologies do the same job by other means. localStorage keeps data in the browser without sending it on every request, and a pixel is a tiny invisible image used to record that a page was loaded. Where we use those, they are treated the same way as cookies on this page.
2Strictly necessary cookies
These make the shop work. They cannot be switched off from our side, because switching them off means switching off the basket.

Under the EU ePrivacy rules these cookies do not require consent, because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
3Analytics cookies
These tell us how many people read a page, which pages they leave immediately, and which search terms bring them in. We use them to decide what to write next and what to fix. They are not used to build an advertising profile of you.

Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation and a 14 month data retention. Google acts as our processor for this data. Its own privacy information is at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across every site you visit with the official browser add-on.
We run no advertising pixel, no retargeting tag and no social network tracker on mkttool.com. If that changes, this page changes with it before the tag goes live.
4Functional storage
Some parts of the site keep a small preference in your browser so it does not have to ask you twice. Examples are the state of the side basket and a dismissed notice. These are stored with localStorage, stay on your device, and are never sent to us.
Page building and performance components may also set a short lived cookie to serve the correct version of a page. These carry no personal data and are deleted when you close the browser.
5How to refuse or delete cookies
In your browser
Every browser lets you block cookies, delete the ones already stored, or block them for one site only. The settings are under Privacy in each case.

Private or incognito windows discard every cookie when you close them.
Blocking the strictly necessary cookies breaks the basket and the checkout. You will be able to read the site, but not to buy. Blocking only the analytics cookies costs you nothing.

6Changes to this policy
We review this list when we add or remove a tool. The date at the top of the page tells you when it was last checked.
If we ever introduce a cookie that is not strictly necessary and not covered here, this page is updated before it is set, and visitors in territories that require consent are asked first.
